The following review is from Bill Nevala.  Many of you might know Bill from his days as a race director/WIN Multisports owner.  Bill has produced some great events in the southern Minnesota region.  Bill offers up his thought on the NEWTON Guidance Trainer the Sir Isaac.

1.   What’s the name of product you’d like to review?  The Sir Isaac running shoe, by Newton. 

2.  What is the product designed to do?  How do you use the product? I have chosen the Newton Isaacs since they are a specific running shoe designed for the forefoot/mid-foot strike running style. I use the product for racing and training for road races, triathlons, and duathons.

3.  What do you like about the product?  I am a new forefoot running style runner, doing it for just over two months. I made the switch this year to address my heel pain issues. I have researched the running style to see what positive effects it can have for my injury type. The switch has benefited me greatly. The Newtons provide a very light, very comfortable, efficient shoe to enhance my fore-foot running style. They were well worth the investment in my opinion.

4.  Is there anything you don’t like about the product?  Newtons are a bit like purchasing a German touring automobile; you get a high quality, precision instrument for your investment. I buy quality whenever it counts. I need to be healthy and injury-free in order to participate in the athletic events I do each season. The Newtons are just one tool I will not do without this year!

5.  For whom would you recommend this product? I would recommend the Newton shoes to anyone wishing to have a great shoe to race or train in and who are interested in taking the step into the Natural Motion Revolution.

6.  What new item are you shopping for now? I am shopping for a new triathlon-specific bike or time-trial bike for the race season.

1.   What’s the name of product you’d like to review?

 Sugoi Evolution Bike Shorts and FIT to be TRI'd’s ultra cool Sugoi RS Custom Team Jersey.

2.  What is the product designed to do?  How do you use the product?

The Evolution Bike Shorts are meant to provide support, protection from chafing, and some cushion of the bottom side, hopefully all while feeling dry and not too restrictive.  I think a good short should go through its paces without calling attention to themselves. I mean you need to pay attention to other things, not shortcomings of your shorts.

The Sugoi Custom Team Jersey should be like the shorts in that throughout the ride you should not have to pull, adjust, tug, or curse (under your breath) at it. A light feeling jersey that does not chafe tender areas over prolonged rides is a real bonus too.

Both of the garments performed for me as I had hoped and noted.  Sugoi has done a great job putting these together. Specialty clothing like this is not a purchase to be made on a whim but they’re worth is priceless, if they perform and last.

3.  What do you like about the product?

Sugoi’s quality, fabrics, designs, and, so far, durability has exceeded my expectations. I have found a new preferred cycling clothing brand!

 I am now fully sold on full length jersey zippers too.

4.  Is there anything you don’t like about the product?

The pad in the shorts is weird to walk in but on the bike it’s dreamy.  

5.  For whom would you recommend this product?

They’re for folks who put lots of miles in the saddle and don't want to have distractions from the enjoyment and challenge of the ride. 

6.  What new item are you shopping for now?

With all the rain we have been having lately my attention is on rain-proof gear. I've heard Sugoi has a very breathable rain jacket out now.
